For those who enjoy meticulous planning and the thrill of RNG manipulation, amulet crafting offers a unique playground where skill, patience, and a little bit of luck combine to create game-changing equipment. In this article, we’re going to walk through an advanced amulet crafting session, detailing the process from initial chaos orbs to a fully optimized monk or warrior amulet.
The Importance of Amulets in PoE2
Amulets in PoE2 are more than just accessories—they are powerful tools that can define the strength and capabilities of your character. Depending on the mods rolled, an amulet can enhance everything from melee skills to spellcasting, energy shield capacity, elemental resistances, or global defenses. For melee-oriented builds, for example, an amulet that increases skill levels across all melee abilities can significantly boost your damage output and utility, allowing your character to dominate in endgame content such as high-tier maps or boss encounters.
The crafting process is highly modular, relying on a combination of orbs, essences, and specialized “omens,” each of which can control different aspects of a piece of gear. Understanding the purpose of these tools and how to sequence their use is critical for creating a top-tier item.
Step 1: The Base Crafting – Chaos Orb for Accuracy
The first step in our amulet crafting journey involves using a Chaos Orb. Chaos Orbs are versatile and powerful, as they can randomly reroll the mods on a rare item. The goal here is to hit an accuracy mod, which is particularly valuable for melee builds. Accuracy on a Chaos Orb can then be leveraged to homogenize all melee skills to a higher level. This is one of the first key decisions in crafting: do you settle for a mod, or do you push your luck for a perfect roll?
In our case, the Chaos Orb delivers exactly what is needed. This initial success is what makes crafting in PoE2 both exciting and nerve-wracking—the thrill of seeing that perfect roll can make hours of preparation feel instantly worthwhile.
Step 2: Activating Omen of Dextral Exaltation
Once the accuracy mod has appeared, the next step is to activate the Omen of Dextral Exaltation. This omens system is a unique PoE2 mechanic that allows players to control how subsequent Exalted Orbs are applied. By activating the omen, the Exalted Orb will only add a suffix modifier, giving the crafter precise control over which stats appear on the amulet.
At this stage, homogenization comes into play. Homogenization allows a mod to replicate across different categories. In our example, we homogenize the level of all melee skills with the accuracy mod. With the use of a perfect Exalted Orb, the amulet receives a +3 to all melee skill levels, a highly desirable outcome for melee-focused warriors or monks. This step showcases the high level of strategic planning PoE2 demands—knowing which omens to activate and when to homogenize can make or break your crafting success.
Step 3: Refining the Prefix – Omen of Sinestral Crystallization
After securing the melee skill boost, we focus on enhancing the amulet’s defenses. The accuracy mod is a prefix, and we may want to replace it with a defensive stat. Using the Omen of Sinestral Crystallization, we can safely remove prefixes while leaving suffixes intact.
Next, a Perfect Essence of Enhancement is applied. This essence specifically adds increased global defenses to the amulet. The result? An amulet that now has a +3 to all melee skills combined with 29% increased global defenses—a solid combination for both offensive and defensive capabilities. This step highlights the precision crafting aspect of PoE2, where each action is deliberate and each tool has a distinct purpose.
