2:08 AM 		In basketball stars, the pump fake is a simple move, but a lot of players either don’t know it exists or don’t use it properly.

Here’s how it works in practice:
How to pump fake
When you’re on offense and holding the ball, tap the shoot button briefly instead of holding it.
Your player will perform a fake shot instead of actually releasing the ball.
If the defender jumps to block, you can then drive past them or take a real shot.

Sounds easy, but timing is everything.
When it actually works
Most players fall for pump fakes when they’re too eager to block. If you notice your opponent jumping early every time you go for a shot, that’s your moment. Do a quick fake, wait for them to leave the ground, then either shoot or move around them.

What to do after the fake
If the defender jumps: drive past ? easy layup/dunk
If they don’t react: don’t force it ? reset and try again
If they hesitate: sometimes the fake alone gives you enough space to shoot

Common mistake
A lot of players spam pump fake without reading the defender. That doesn’t work. Good defenders won’t jump unless they’re sure. So if you fake too often, it becomes useless.

A small tip that helps
Try mixing your timing. Sometimes shoot immediately, sometimes delay, sometimes fake. The more unpredictable you are, the more likely your opponent will bite on the fake.
Once you get used to it, pump fake becomes less of a “trick” and more of a mind game.
